Understand your system. Explore beneath the surface.

Caretaker Chiron is an open-source system exploration platform designed to make the inner workings of your computer understandable, observable, and accessible — without sacrificing technical depth.

Illustrative process tree with a highlighted evidence path A tree of system components. One path from the system root to a single process is highlighted, and a note beside it lists the kinds of evidence an explanation would cite. Your computer is doing more than you can see.

Operating systems expose an enormous amount of useful information: which programs are running, what they consume, how they relate to one another. Most of it is hard to read unless you already know what you are looking at.

Advanced utilities such as Process Hacker and x64dbg reveal remarkable detail, but they assume expertise. Simpler monitors are approachable, but often stop at the surface.

Caretaker Chiron is an attempt to bridge that gap: make the complex understandable, without making the underlying technology less powerful.

Powerful enough to investigate. Clear enough to understand.

  • Clarity without oversimplification

Complex information should be understandable without removing the technical details that make it useful.

  • Evidence before explanations

System explanations should be grounded in observable evidence, not unsupported guesses.

  • Local-first and privacy-conscious

Prefer local inspection and transparent data handling. Cloud assistance should be optional.

  • User control and safety

Privileged operations should be explicit. AI must not silently execute arbitrary system commands.

One place to explore your system.

None of these capabilities are available yet. This is the direction of the project.
